The first major issue is that the Absinthe webclip “Error establishing a database connection”. The iPhone Dev-Team blog suggested users to go to Settings, turn on VPN and wait instead.

“Toggle VPN only after Absinthe says it’s done, or it will not work,” the blog added. “VPN should error and then reboot soon. If it does not, rerun Absinthe!”

The iPhone Dev-Team also said the OS X version of the CLI (command-line interface) is “primarily to help us debug specific issues, but tinkerers might like to play around with some of its advanced options!”

The stock price did a nice jump when Steve Jobs came on the stage, (1.01%) beating NASDAQ which was at (.6%) but by the end of the presentation, excitement seems to wain and the stock drifted back too .6%.

Although there are some cool things, the combination of AT&T and Verizon support (which was leaked when the Verizon iPhone 4 was taken apart) there was not much there to really get the investors excited to drive the price up. Many people, myself included have started to refer to this as the ipad1.5 based on the changes, but then again, we had our hopes set pretty high.  The announcement of a new iPad cover started the stock climb back up again.  And why not?  Apple is now going to eat the lunch of many of the case manufactures out there.  A case that can wake your ipad up and put it to sleep?  Yea that will sell$$.

I think what really surprised me is nothing on the iOS and changes to make it Enterprise compatible.  Although we have seen great adaption by corporations; its mostly been around the information retrieval and marketing departments.  I was expecting, and perhaps so were the those on the market, something changes to appeal to corporate America.  However, give the latest batch of Android application to be pulled from the Android market, perhaps there is still time.  iOS 5 anybody?

Towards the end of the presentation the stock price bounced around from .5% to .9%.  At the end of the presentation the stock was sitting at .79%

Here is my list of iPad2 features:  I removed the ones I think are less then %50 likely.

1. Front and rear facing cameras and facetime support.  This was an easy call.  Expect at least a 5 meg camera with the same capabilities we see on the iphone 4.  Yes there will be LED flash. Although I’m not as certain on the rear facing camera.  I would not be shocked if this gets chopped.
2. The same video editing packages we have on the iphone 4 but with better social media integration.
3. Retina display.  The only think making me hesitate on this is the cost. But I could see them using it as a selling point and thus validate the expense.
4. Macbook Air like design.  I would not look towards the iphone4 for the new design.  That was mostly driven around the need for a better antenna.
5. We’ll probably see a 1.5GHz version, and we’ll definitely get at least 512MB of RAM to bring the iPad up to par with the iPhone 4.
6. 3-axis gyroscope for improved gaming.
7. Expanded support for AirPlay streaming. I’m hearing this from other places.  Makes sense though
8. Better integration with the new Apple TV.

…. Analysts expect the iPad 2 to be thinner than its predecessor and feature an improved display, as well as front-facing camera and Facetime video chat support. And some reports suggest it will be powered by one of Qualcomm’s multimode chips and will run on both GSM and CDMA-based networks around the world.

In its last earnings calls, Apple said it had sold nearly 15 million iPads, since it went on sale last spring.

This is a very big deal, although Apple will be facing increased competition with the launch of a passel of tablets coming from numerous manufacturers, most of which are using the Honeycomb version of Google’s Android mobile operating system.

According to several sources close to the situation, the Wednesday date in a little more than a week is firm and will take place in San Francisco, the scene of many such Apple events.

In that case, the venue is likely to be the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

It’s not clear when Apple will begin sending out its famous invites for the gathering, but I am guessing soon, in order to get the Apple faithful to the proper level of froth. ….

… The news follows a report from an analyst firm earlier this morning that Apple would be delaying the iPad 2 due to “production bottlenecks.” Indeed, it seems rather coincidental that we get our first wind of the iPad 2’s official unveiling after Apple’s stock began to take a hit from the delay rumors. 1. Updated: I hear they are going to dump the home button and instead use some form of mutitouch.  Could be because it would reduce the cost of the tablet, and Steve hates buttons.  But they home button is the one thing that makes it easy for new users, so not fully sure on this one.

I really do not expect LOTS of changes with the firmware software.  There has been a month delay because of firmware issues, but we know its going to be iOS4 based with just a few bells and whistles.  The one big surprise that no one has been talking about but I have a feeling could be in the works is better support for business needs. Office docs support, improved support for exchange and improved security.  Also improved security against jailbreaking… but they do that with every new model and still.. They cannot seem to fully lock it.  ‘course, I really believe they don’t want to as I’ve said before.
