Pick n' Play

I am not a fan of the Golden Arches, but I do have to give McDonald’s props for creating Pick ‘n Play. Pick ‘n Play is a Pong arcade game for the iPhone that allows visitors to Stockholm, Sweden to compete against a computer for coupons for McDonald’s menu items. Players connect to the billboard wirelessly by going to a URL, they choose a menu item, and then play a game of Pong on the large screen. The player uses their phone’s touch screen to control the paddle and if the player lasts in the game for 30 seconds, a coupon is sent to their phone. Smart interactive marketing.

Beyond the cool factor of being able to race a Tron light cycle, the game utilizes some new web3D technologies. Developer Shy Shalom built the game using HTML5 canvas elements, WebGL, and Javascript.

From watching the video, it looks pretty interesting and you can see people walking around. The normal simcity like stuff, policy setting, taxes, providing the citizens with entertainment, etc..  Whats different is the building gifs are nicer and the user interface ‘seems’ more user friendly.  HOWEVER, in all the animations I saw, there did not seem to be way to zoom completely out.  And this could be a fail for me. One of the things I like to do with simcity is zoom back and look over the city as a whole.
