All you need

Yea, this is like boutique store good. Not all that hard to make either. I’ll take you through the steps by steps. Now full disclosure, this is from my wife who read it online somewhere. So if you find it, ping me so I can link back to the OP.

Step 1, get the supplies. Special K with extra strawberries works great. Pink Chocolate (2 bars). I got this stuff on sale at Sprouts, sweet deal of 60% off. (yes pun intended). Dark chocolate at the same place. (4 bars) Now of course you can change out the cereal if you want, but try to keep the pink chocolate. Really adds to the taste. Next get a large’ish pan and put cooking paper on it. You can use cup cake forms or other containers, up to you. I like the pan. (Scroll down a bit if you want to see the pan I used).

Step two, prep. Now by hand, pick out as many of the strawberries from the cereal as you can. Stop complaining it does not take that long. Once you do that, get scissors or a knife or whatever, and cut in half. You don’t have to, but I like this way.

ok, step 3. Now if you never melted chocolate before, its not hard, but not simple either. If this is your first time, do a google search. There is a recommendation to use a microwave, which I will try at some point, but for this, simple pot with a glass bowl. (update, USE THE MICROWAVE! WAY easier) Bring the water to a simmer, place the glass over the pot, and yes the glass bowl MUST be bigger than the pot. (really I have to say this?) Anyway, drop the PINK chocolate first. Break it up into pieces, drop it in and start stirring. When its smooth your done. Pour into your sheet and smooth it out.

Now its time for the dark chocolate. I use 2 bars of dark for every 1 bar of pink. In this session I did 2 pinks and 4 dark and the whole box of cereal. Notice I did not clean the bowl? Yea because we do not want to waste ANY of that sweetness. And dont worry, its 2x dark to pink, it will keep dark when you are done.

Step 4. Its workout time. This take a bit of arm work, but its worth it. You need to work in the cereal to the chocolate. I put in the cereal a bit at time, say 1/4 mix it in, add another 1/4 mix, repeat. I think in the original recipe you do not use all the cereal thus making it more like chocolate than crunch, but if you work at it long enough you will get almost every flake with enough chocolate that it will hold. Bonus, you end up with more Strawberry Chocolate Crunch!! So get at it!

Last step, step 5. Time to spread the goodness. Once you have this fully mixed, turn off the stove and place onto the pink layer, It should be firm by now. Spread evenly. Next, remember those dried strawberries? Place them evenly on the pan. You should have something like this. You do need to push the strawberries in a bit, so do quickly while its still warm.

Put in the fridge for a few hours and that’s it! Cut and sell … oh serve. Or, in my case, put them in containers and eat them all myself. Hey, I made these, I can do what I want. Enjoy!!

How to make a monster pancake with a rice cooker https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2014/06/how-to-make-a-monster-pancake-with-a-rice-cooker/ https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2014/06/how-to-make-a-monster-pancake-with-a-rice-cooker/#respond Mon, 16 Jun 2014 05:10:16 +0000 http://www.perivision.net/wordpress/?p=9424 Read More]]> Yes, you read that right. You can create a massive huge super monster pancake using your rice cooker. That is assuming you have one of course. If not, with a few modification you can use a bread maker as well. The cool part is you can add a number of ingredients like fruit, nuts, chocolate, etc.. without the cleanup. I read this via RocketNews24, so credit to them for turning me on to this.

The steps are pretty simple actually. First gather your ingredients just like making normal pancake batter. Put the ingredients directly in the rice cooker container. Mix it in there until you get a consistent smooth texture. Add your extra ingredients here as well. I recommend banana and chocolate chips since that is pretty easy.
WARNING, make sure you only put it to the 1/2 way mark, you do not want it to overflow and make the lid stick.

For the first time, you may want to make it smaller just to get a feel for it. Also, if its a bit doughy, you can firm it up in the microwave.

From RocketNews24

Once its all mixed, close the lid and hit the button. The whole process should only take 45 min or so.

Then BOOM, you got that Monster pancake ready for slicing. OR you can just mac it right there. My favorite part of this? The clean up. Or should I say the lack of clean up. Clean the bowl and you are done! WIN! The last time I make pancakes I think I made more mess then actual pancakes!

monster pancake rice cooker

Like I said before, there are lots of variation just like regular pancakes, except you do not have to worry if the chucks are too big them messing up the pancake. Check out some of these..

First the promised banana and chocolate monster pancake!

Or better yet, an all Chocolate monster pancake.

How to make awesome bacon breakfast cups! https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2013/03/how-to-make-awsome-bacon-breakfast-cups/ https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2013/03/how-to-make-awsome-bacon-breakfast-cups/#respond Wed, 20 Mar 2013 04:31:23 +0000 http://www.perivision.net/wordpress/?p=8656 Read More]]> bacon breakfast cupsJust saw this on Reddit. Had to share. What does this have to do with games or technology? Nothing. Just pure food porn.

Ingredients: Muffin Tin (Non-stick is best)

6 large/x-large eggs

Bacon stripsandbaconstripsandbaconstripsIhadtousethisfeature.

Bread circles slightly larger then the bottom of the muffin tin. (I used a cup and pressed out the centre of 6 slices) You can use whatever bread you like, it’s more of a structural component for syrup/butter adsorption and an egg platform.

1:3 maple syrup: melted butter (enough to coat the bottom of each muffin tin)

Shredded Cheese of your liking

Salt&Pepper

Pre-cooking the Bacon

You can either pan fry for 5 minutes or you can oven bake them on a foil covered cookie sheet for 15 minutes (sprinkle some brown sugar to candy them if you like 😉 The bacon strips should be soft, not crispy.

Building the Cups:

Preheat oven to 400F/204.44C

Pour some butter/syrup mixture to coat the bottom so they look like this, lest you risk them ending up like this.

Gently stuff the bread circle in the tin.

Sprinkle Cheese on the bread

Follow the muffin tin walls and wrap a bacon strip (or two) forming a cup

Carefully break an egg into the bacon cup.

Top with Salt/Pepper/Cheese/Your Heart’s Desire

Middle Rack in the 400F oven for 20-25 minutes

If all goes according to plan then the caramalized bread base will make it easy to hold and consume sans utensils.

I cannot believe this has not been realized before, and yes its not perfect, like my Perfect Midnight Grilled Cheese Sandwich; but this approaches brilliance. Caution, do this at your own risk. Mess this up and you can ruin your toaster or worse. So really, be careful.

Now let it be said I have not tried this and in fact do not have a pop up toaster anymore, but in theory, it should work. Even better if you have an extra wide popup toaster. From my years of grilled cheese making experience I’m going to take a stab the instructions for making a grilled cheese with a pop up toaster:

0) FIRST, clean the toaster. If you do not will start a fire. A reader tried and thus smokes an old toaster.

1) pre toast the toast. Part of what makes a good grill cheese is getting the bread toasted just right. Set it to light.

2) Butter the toast LIGHTLY on one side. If you put it upside down and there is even a HINT of dripping, you put on too much.

3) Add cheese to the non butter side of the toast. How much cheese you ad depends on the width of the toaster slot.

4) Set the toaster on the Dark setting. You want to get the cheese to just start melting. Make sure you slowly release the toaster spring (holder, cradle or whatever its called) before it pops itself. You may want to place a plate or a catchers mitt to catch the toast just in case.

5) Assemble the sandwich. Add tomatoes typically.

6) Set the toaster right side up, put your sandwith on top over the two slots if you need any extra cooking or if you like your cheese gooey.

And there you go! A wonderful grilled cheese sandwich with nothing more then a pop up toaster.

If anyone tries this, let me know.

How to make the perfect midnight grilled cheese sandwich https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2008/12/how-to-make-the-perfect-midnight-grilled-cheese-sandwich/ https://www.perivision.net/wordpress/2008/12/how-to-make-the-perfect-midnight-grilled-cheese-sandwich/#comments Wed, 17 Dec 2008 09:09:48 +0000 http://www.perivision.net/wordpress/?p=808 Read More]]> So, your going to stay up late eh? Cannot sleep? Have too much or your mind? A geek? Well then. You need to make a midnight grilled cheese sandwich! Now this isnt your normal two slices of wunderbread and kraft american cheese, now, we are going to add a few things..

Ok, first, lets get the ingredients together..

 • Wisconsin medium (or sharp) cheddar ( or any other non over processed cheese)
 • Bread. I go between 7 whole grain to the low of the low, safeway French toast bread. Today it was the French bread cut.
 • Tomato. The fresher the better. Get heirloom if you can.
 • Turkey based Pepperoni slices. (yea, really not kidding about this bit)

Ok, so prep your ingredients .. Toast the bread lightly!

Only add a SMALL pinch of salt and black pepper to the tomatoes.

Now here is a trick. Microwave the pepperoni slices in a paper towel. About 20s should be fine. Dry and crispy.

ok.. now the secret step.. The “Lean mean fat grilling machine! ” Yea baby…

Toast the bread, apply a light bit of butter and assemble.

Close the lid and let it cook. After the top had been browned, unplug and let it sit for a few minutes and TaDa!! The perfect midnight grilled cheese sandwich! Enjoy!!! Yea, I’m sure there are better things I could be doing with my time.

{update..}

As you can see from the comments, I seem to have inspired a similar and it seems just as perfect midnight grilled cheese bagel. 🙂 Have to thank Max for this image, who, for some reason disappears from my twitter records after a day or two.
