Nice!  You can get one of those micro helicopters for around $40 that you can control with your iphone/ipad/ipad. The only thing missing is the video display. I would LOVE to see someone put a small wifi camera on this.  I would buy it right now. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/i-helicopter/id439500840?mt=8 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/iphone-ipod-touch-ipad-controlled-rechargeable- DealExtreme, the leading online electronics retailer, unveils… Read More

There are some many buzz words I could have used with this, but basically, its a remote control robot with a camera and computer screen. And thats cool enough right?  However, I’m not sure this would really take off as the creators have in mind.  The idea is that you can have an autonomous remote… Read More

Crazy Brits.  Seems they have build 5 robotic fish that not only look realistic (for a robot) but actually serve a purpose.  To seek out pollution.  The first test will be to release five robotic fish in the northern Spanish port of Gijon. Depending on how well that goes, they will try rivers and streams.… Read More

Kickstarters ability to get projects off the ground is not new news, but every now and again, I’ll get an email to remind me just how cool this service is. The Indie Game movie just got funded in 24 hours, so I thought I would post up the email showing yet again, you can make things happen if you just try.… Read More

As an advocate of web3d and those efforts to make it ubiquitous, I have questioned why Microsoft has not supported WebGL in their Internet Explorer browser when every other browser maker does. Seems the problem for Microsoft with WebGL is over security concerns. A recent set of reports by UK-based Context Information Security, WebGL –… Read More

This is so funny!  Posted on wired.com, a collection of really funny Peanut cartoons with tweets instead of the original content. The site is called Peanutweeter. (looks like the site is no more) Although not each is a home run, the LOL ration is pretty high. I grabbed a few I like as an example.… Read More

This just came up on Reddit. Its code that will allow you to place rage faces in your facebook chat.  WIN.  I downloaded the code but will not have a chance to mess with it until tomorrow.  But here are the links.  I also put them on my own server since the originals are getting… Read More

I was recently exposed to SVG Girl (thanks Avi) and as a fan of anime and web technology, what a treat! At first glance, SVG Girl looks like a video of an anime, in reality it is an interactive video using all Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)! SVG is a family of specifications of an XML-based file format… Read More

Remember Johnny Chung Lee who did that really cool hack on the Nintendo Wii awhile back?  He created a 3D simulation using head tracking… Video below the post in case you do not remember. Anyway, seems Jeremie Francone and Laurence Nigay from the Engineering Human-Computer Interaction (EHCI) research group at the Grenoble Informatics Laboratory did… Read More

At first I thought this was a joke, but it makes perfect sense.  If you go the theater and the movie in 3D, you can use these glasses to remove the 3D effect.  No more headaches!   Now this will not make the movie any better or less crappy, but at least you do not have… Read More

You know something has jumped the shark when I write using ‘jumped the shark’.  Yes if “Mars Needs Moms” is proof of anything, making something 3D does not help make something bad, less bad.  What does that have to do with today’s (tomorrows) XKDC comic?  Not a damn thing..  Just wanted to say that.  Now… Read More

(first post written completely on my iPhone BTW) I stopped by the Peel demo in San Francisco during Web 2.0 expecting a simple iPhone IR remote. Wow, it’s more then that. Peel, the name of the app as well as the company created a very cool app that not only replaces your remote but creates… Read More

At GDC2011 the best promotional campaign I saw for a game was for Kaos Studios Homefront. Published by THQ, Homefront is a first-person shooter game scheduled to be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows this March. It is set in the near future, 2027, when a nuclear-armed Korean People’s Army invades the USA and… Read More
