Does it work for you?

Normally, when I write about jailbreaking I’m trying to report the news or talk about interesting app.  However, in this case, I’m asking for feedback.

I have a friend who foolishly updated to 3.1.3 and lost his unlock.  He gave me his phone and I tried blackra1n.  5 times!  Nothing.  Tried on the mac, XP and Windows7.  No luck.  Really odd. So I ask my gentle readers out there, and you reply publicly or via email, whats the story here? Why is blackra1n’s jailbreak not working on this 3G phone?

Nothing special about the phone either.  You standard white 3G.

Umm… Help?
